August 2024

We had a wonderful time at our third annual Ruth’s House banquet. I’d like to thank everyone who attended. It was heartwarming to see the body of Christ gathered together to glorify God and look after orphans.

This year’s theme was “A Bolivian Christmas”:

The silent auction with handmade Bolivian arts and crafts was a big hit:

The food was a Bolivian-inspired dish eaten at Christmastime:

After dinner I shared about the origen and vision of Ruth’s House, a transition house designed to accompany the young women of Talita Cumi Children’s Home after they turn 18 years old. I updated everyone on Ruth, our current participant who has the same name as the ministry. I shared about how she’s in her second year of studying medicine and desires to use her degree to be a missionary in Africa and help those who are suffering from AIDS.

Then I officially announced the upcoming launch of a transition house for the boys of the Talita Cumi Children’s home in January of 2025.

We chose the name “Peter’s House” for the ministry because Peter’s house in Capernaum was the center of operations and discipleship for Jesus and his disciples. Beyond that, Peter speaks of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone and the living rock (1 Peter 2:4-6). Similarly, we aspire to make Peter’s House a transition house with Christ as our foundation.

Our first two residents of Peter’s House will be Lider and Juan Pablo.

Lider is currently working full time at a home improvement store similar to that of Home Depot. He’s finishing his high school education at night and desires to study to be an electrician.

Juan Pablo currently attends high school in the mornings and works part time at a metal shop. One of his desired professions is to be a graphic design artist.

Tremendous growth for both ministries is imminent. There are currently 31 children living at Talita Cumi. Over the next five years, 21 of those 31 children will have turned 18 years old and will have the opportunity to live at Ruth’s House or Peter’s House. Please pray for us as we walk with these young men and women in Christ and guide them through their young adult years.

If you would like to collaborate with Ruth’s House and Peter’s House:

1. Pray for Ruth, Lider and Juan Pablo and the children of Talita Cumi, that they would grow in faith in the Lord and discover his will for their lives.

2. Visit us. Contact me so we can make the arrangements.

3. Donate. Donations can be given via PayPal or checks by mail.

As a point of clarification, we will not be creating a separate giving portal for Peter’s House. For simplicity’s sake, donations given to Ruth’s House will be applied to Peter’s House too.

Thank you.
