A transition house for young women in Santa Cruz, Bolivia
We dream of young, Christian women who seek to glorify God in their future communities, families, and professions.
8,369
institutionalized children in Bolivia
In Bolivia, the rate of abandoned children runs high due to familial disruptions caused by poverty, alcoholism, and physical and sexual abuse. Approximately 1 in 3 Bolivian girls experience sexual violence by the age of 18, primarily by members of their own family
Life challenges
When children residing in a foster home reach the age of 18, they face a formidable and intimidating life transition: leaving the comfort and protection of their children’s home. This transition is better understood as a series of transitions: from high school to university, from unemployed to employed, from a highly sociable atmosphere at their children’s home to living alone or with few others
Lack of a support system
Most young women do not have family members who can assist them in this series of transitions, which gives rise to great instability. Lacking financial, emotional, and spiritual support and guidance, young women often make reckless life decisions that perpetuate their cycle of hopelessness, poverty, and abuse
